The main purpose of our group is to provide a safe and confidential space for voice hearers to meet and to share experiences in a supportive atmosphere.
There is no judgement and no solutions are offered - just the chance to communicate with others who are perhaps in a similar situation.

There are various theories from psychiatrists, psychologists and voice hearers about why people hear voices .
Sometimes people who hear voices are described by the medical profession as suffering from schizophrenia.

Not everyone who hears voices has this diagnosis and some may never come forward for treatment.
Within a hearing voices support group, people will typically be open to and supportive of a range of beliefs about the origin of the voices.
Nowadays, people are tending to seek other solutions than the traditional major tranquilisers and some are exploring talking therapies including CBT.
